When networking your DVR especially for remote viewing over the internet there are 2 things that are critically important.
1) You have a good quality router that is easy to programme for services, firewall rules, port forwarding etc. If your router isn’t properly configured you will never get your pictures. The Netgear range of routers meet these requirements, also our engineers understand them very well and so can easily help over the telephone re their configuration or even set it up remotely for you using netgear`s remote management. We are unable to provide this support for other brands of router.
2) Your Broadband Internet connection must have a STATIC IP address. This is the IP address your internet service provider applies to your broadband each and every time you connect to the internet. If it isn’t of the static type you will never find your system on the World Wide Web. (Some people will say you can use dynamic static IP addresses, this is the case but we feel they are inappropriate for security systems.) A static IP is provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) you must contact them to have this facility added to your broadband connection.
